We had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Kate and Jaycob at Rex Smeal Park in Port Douglas. Out of the colder southern states, they flew into Cairns and headed to the famous township of Port Douglas where, along with their close friends and family, tied the knot at Rex Smeal Park Port Douglas. A day that can only be described in every way as perfect, Tropical North Queensland style. Rex Smeal Park in Port Douglas was the perfect location for them on a perfect Tropical North Queensland, Port Douglas Day. After their ceremony at Rex Smeal Park, they partied the night away at Harrison’s Restaurant, famous for its fine food and amazing lit up tree. Here are just a few images we captured for them on their amazing Port Douglas Wedding day…

The Elandra Mission beach is definitely one of our favorite spots to photograph here in Tropical North Queensland. Catherine and Chris were Married at the beautiful Elandra Mission Beach, along with their close family and friends who flew in from all over. And what an amazing spot to have their wedding, the Elandra Mission Beach really delivered. Photographing so many weddings up here in Tropical North Queensland, its hard not to love what we do especially capturing amazing moments of such fun loving people like Catherine and Chris, a true honor in itself. Here are a few shots we captured for them on their beautiful Wedding day at the Elandra Mission beach. Enjoy.

We’ve neglected our blog in recent times! We can’t wait to update you all with so many beautiful weddings throughout Cairns, Mission Beach, Port Douglas and pretty much the whole of Far North Queensland! A few weeks back we were privileged enough to photograph the beautiful wedding of Liesel and Mitchell at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal. This was our very first wedding gig at the prestigious Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal and we must say, it did not disappoint. Apart from having such a beautiful couple to photograph throughout the day, we also were able to utilise very different backdrops and compositions throughout their photo shoot. The Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal was the perfect location for their wedding day in front of all their friends and family. We literally stayed either inside or just outside of the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal during their wedding day. So much to photograph not enough time in the day! Here are just a few images we captured for them on their very special wedding day.
A month ago we shot an amazing wedding at one of Australia’s most awarded Wedding Venues, Villa Botanic at Airlie beach, Whitsundays. Our amazing couple Jessica and Andrew, who booked us well over a year ago, have moved away from Cairns to pursue their dreams and have been way to busy to organise their dream wedding. Luckily for them Villa Botanica at Airlie Beach had everything sorted for them. We have photographed around Villa Botanica Airlie Beach before, but we couldn’t wait to photograph their exclusive wedding, as this couple are truly beautiful people both inside and out. Relaxed and casual truly reflected their personalities as we photographed their wedding day at Villa Botanica at Airlie Beach. Here are some shots we got for them on their very special Wedding day. Enjoy!

Overcast days never dampen the spirits of such beautiful weddings. This definitely was the case for Amanda and Andrew who were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Freshwater. The atmosphere during their wedding day in Cairns was electric as the smile of our lovely bride Amanda was infectious. This clearly shows throughout their images. After their bride and Groom preparations in Cairns, they met at the Isle at the Sacred Heart Church where all their guests were waiting. Tears and smiles of joy flooded the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Freshwater, and not a single person took their eyes off the beautiful couple. As it rained outside, nothing was going to stop these two on their wedding day. As soon as we left the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Freshwater, the rain had stopped and we resumed with their bridal pictorial. A fun bunch we must say! After their bridal pictorial in and around Cairns, we spent a lovely evening by the seashore at Ellis beach, where a wonderfully marquee was set overlooking the ocean for guests to mingle with one another. The night had just started as more tears of joy and laughter were accompanied by hugs and kisses. Two absolutely beautiful people both inside and out only deserved the best on their wedding day! Thank you for having us be a part of your wonderful wedding day story! Much love from all of us here at mefoto.

A month back we were so privileged to photograph the wedding of Susie and Matt at Bali Hai at Mossman near Port Douglas. Bali Hai weddings provide picture perfect backdrops, and Susie and Matts wedding really showed the full glory of the beauty of Tropical North Queensland. Susie and Matt have never visited Tropical North Queensland let alone Bali Hai Mossman. They gambled and selected this fine region to exchange their vows from the coolness of the southern states. Bali Hai Mossman put on a show with their outdoor wedding, creating an atmosphere of happiness. After exchanging their vows amongst the shade at Bali Hai Mossman, we went to the local Cane field and water hole for their wedding pictorial. As the sun reached the horizon, we went back to Bali Hai Mossman and spent a lovely evening under the stars as photographed them as they danced the night away, tropical North Queensland style!
St Mary’s by the Sea Chapel is a stunning location for a beautiful wedding at Port Douglas, here in Tropical North Queensland. Hayley and Lachlan chose to be wed at St Mary’s by the Sea Chapel, where accompanied with guests who flew in from around Australia and the world, was the perfect spot to have an intimate wedding in tropical paradise. We had the pleasure of photographing the nervous groom and bride at their bridal preps before exchanging vows at the Port Douglas Chapel, as tears of joy and laughter filled the atmosphere. After a few group formal photos in front of St Mary’s by the Sea Chapel, we quickly headed towards the palm fringed Rex Smeal park where we began our bridal pictorial. The party only had just begun when they were applauded into their reception at Port Douglas’ famous Salsa Bar and Grill restaurant. It was a pleasure capturing so many intimate moments of such fun loving people on an occasion that could only be described as beautiful! Here are some photos we took of our lovely couple during their special day….
Earlier this year we were privileged to be a part of a small committee of passionate like-minded people. We ran a charity event called “Save the Date – Wedding Expo”, an exhibition showcasing the wedding industry in Tropical North Queensland.
“Save the Date”, held at Brothers Leagues Club, proved to be a huge success, with over 1000 people walking through the door to visit FNQ’s finest wedding suppliers. 100% of the profits raised were donated to support local Autistic Children in Cairns. The funds raised went directly to the Autism Queensland Centre of Excellence, located at Edmonton. Autism Queensland is a community based, not for profit, Incorporated Association.
We were delighted to raise $12,000 from the expo, money which funded the purchase of three state-of-the-art Smart Boards for AQ Cairns. The Smart Boards will help assist children with ASD to refine and develop their skills, encouraging them to grow into the very gifted children we are blessed to have in our community. We were presented with
I would personally like to thank: Joanne Male (celebrant) for her passion and commitment to make a truly successful expo and for inviting us to be a part of her team, Chrissy Ratcliffe (celebrant) for her calm presence and for her willingness to always put others before herself, Nathan Hubbard (Fotofun Times) for making sure all the hard back-end work was done on time, and to my amazing wife Victoria (mefoto) for her selflessness in helping coordinate the expo, and for her unconditional love and support to help Rylan, our eldest child with ASD, get through life, one day at a time; your wisdom and courage is a true testament of life’s beauty in its most simplest form. You are not only an amazing mother but also an amazing human being!
On an end note: It’s not how much we can take, but the excitement of how much we can give, that makes us love and do what we do best! On behalf of the mefoto crew and the Jvar group of companies, we would like to thank all those that have supported and helped us through the years of being in business here in Tropical North Queensland. We choose to be a part of this amazing charitable event ‘save this date’ every year and dedicate our time as a small gesture to say thank you to you!
