Members of Cairns wedding industry have joined forces to fundraise for innovative photographic curtains that will add a ray of sunshine to Cairns Cancer Centre. On Sunday 15 January they will join forces to host the inaugural ‘Save the Date’ wedding expo at Brothers Leagues Club between 10am and 3.00pm.
Organised by marriage celebrant, Joanne Male, the committee of six wedding industry suppliers are now seeking support from the community to make this event a fundraising success.
“Our aim is to raise $10,000 through admission fees and a host of prizes and raffles,” said Joanne.
According to Ms Male, fundraising on the day will contribute towards 20, digitally printed photographic curtains for Cairns Oncology Unit. Each curtain will feature a series of wonderful images by local people. The images will be on display at the expo and attendees will pick their favourites.
“These curtains are destined to add happiness and a big dose of sunshine to those receiving lifesaving treatment. I am sure both the patients, staff, family and friends will benefit greatly from viewing the wonderful pictures and landscapes of our region taken by everyday people who have a passion for photography.”
